Waze: From community-based application to systemic m-commerce tool

Noam Bardin is the CEO and Thomas Guignard the Regional Manager for Africa, Asia & Europe of Waze, a community-based GPS navigation system with worldwide coverage that relies upon input from users (known as "wazers") to provide real-time updates on traffic conditions. Using the platform's business model and carrying out a strategic analysis of Waze's position on the navigation market will help them to identify new growth areas for the application.
Objectifs pédagogiques
Using a real-life business scenario, the main aims of this case study are to introduce students and managers to, or develop their understanding of: 1) the concept of a platform's business model; 2) carrying out strategic analyses; 3) summarising information and making recommendations, calculations and decisions.
