Leading a Coalition for Climate Legislation in the European Union

Tatjana da Sousa leads a coalition designing EU climate legislation, bringing together activists, executives, and policymakers. Despite a shared concern, the group reaches a deadlock after six months.

The case helps learners to critically examine leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder environments where moral urgency, economic interests, and political constraints collide. Students learn how coalitions can get inspired from corporate activism (Patagonia) and grassroots leadership (Vandana Shiva) and how along with passion and shared purpose, building structural alignment, institutional design, and adaptive leadership can help to bridge fragmentation and enable durable cooperation.
