Résumé

This teaching case places students in a realistic professional decision-making situation: whether or not to accept a particularly attractive job offer from Lafarge.
The appeal of the position stands in sharp contrast to the company's judicial record, having been convicted for financing terrorist groups in Syria.

The case therefore brings together employability pressure, financial constraints, career ambition, and individual moral responsibility. Its pedagogical value lies in showing that ethical dilemmas are not merely abstract questions reserved for managers already in positions of authority and responsibility. They can arise from the very beginning of one's professional life, at the very moment when a student is looking for an apprenticeship, an internship, or a first job.

In this way, the case makes ethics immediately concrete by immersing learners in a situation they could genuinely face themselves.

Objectifs pédagogiques

-      To make ethics tangible by grounding it in a personal, immediate, and concrete situation
-      To show that ethical questions arise at the very beginning of professional life, not only in managerial roles
-      To provide a clear understanding of what an ethical dilemma is
-      To identify relevant facts, stakeholders, and missing information before taking a position
-      To compare different resolution paths using major ethical frameworks
-      To develop rigorous written and oral argumentation on a sensitive topic, beyond intuitive reactions.
