Résumé

This case explores the strategic and ethical dilemmas faced by Apple amid growing scrutiny of its mineral supply chain. As conflict intensifies in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where a majority of global coltan reserves are located, Apple faces mounting pressure related to its sourcing practices, including critical media coverage, activist-led protests, and legal complaints filed by the DRC government.
Three options for addressing these multi-faceted risks are discussed, ranging from targeted risk mitigation to significant investments in full supply chain accountability.

The case draws on real-world developments and invites critical thinking about corporate responsibility, global regulation, and the strategic complexity of sourcing in conflict-affected regions.
