Résumé

Galapiat is a contemporary circus company based in rural Brittany that became a multi-stakeholder cooperative (SCIC) ten years ago.
It was founded by six artists from the National Circus School in Châlons-en-Champagne and they created the show "Risque Zéro".
Their initial goal was to tour South America, and the project evolved into a long-term collective adventure.

As individual artistic projects multiplied, the original non-profit association structure became insufficient. The group therefore adopted a cooperative model to better support collaboration and shared governance.
After a decade, the SCIC model can now be assessed in termes of its strengths, limits, and stakeholder relations.

Galapiat also faces new challenges linked to the aging founders, changing work practices, and declining cultural funding.
The case raises broader questions about the future strategy and governance of participatory, leaderless organizations.
