This module endeavors to inspire learners to think about how the French perceive the world and how the French are perceived by it.
It also deals with stereotypes and assumptions about globalization : both detrimental to cross cultural understanding and integrating culture in cross-national strategies.
The module provides a prompt for learners to discuss the nature of difference in culture and in values orientation.
Objectifs pédagogiques
- To debunk stereotypes about the French and stimulate thinking about stereotyping.
- To question assumptions about globalization : the English language, consumerism, global products.
- To appreciate the complexity of culture in the new economy.
