CATWALK: A Managerial Crisis after a Workplace Aggression

Résumé
Workplace violence and harassment pose a significant and persistent threat to the health and safety of workers, as well as to the productivity and reputation of organizations.

Based on a real incident of aggression, the Catwalk case explores, beyond individual responsibility, how third parties (both direct and indirect witnesses) and the collective can act to prevent various forms of violence through constructive social dialogue.
Objectifs pédagogiques
- Practicing negotiation, working on soft skills and professional development.
The practice (acting) in role-playing scenarios, behavior (building and mobilizing a convincing argument, adapting one's speech ans posture, managing emotions under time constraints, negotiating in situations of asymmetry and informational incompleteness, adjusting initial objectives to achieve a compromise).
- Working on Management, Occupational Health and Human Resources concepts: Power and conflicts based on contributions from May P. Follett's "Power with" rather than "Power over"; decision-making in the company (Igor Ansoff: decision levels), Hervert Simon (IMC model and bounded rationality), and Karl Weick (sensemaking, enactment); Crozier (individuals with different stakes, rationalities, statuses, roles, and objectives); as well as workplace violence (identifying, preventing, managing), subordinate relationship, sanction power, protection of health and safety of workers, collective conflict, conflict resolution protocol, social dialogue, social partners, representativeness, collective agreement.
